By climbing the spiral staircase to the observation platform at 31 meters height above ground (483 meters above sea level), one can take pleasure of watching an impressive Panorama of Gallitzinberg and the east parts of Vienna. On clear days more than 60 kilometers can be seen; the Hainburger Mountains and the Leitha Mountains in the East, and the highest mountain of Lower Austria, Schneeberg, in the south.

In 1898, several constructions were built on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the reign of "Emperor Franz Joseph I" to present the performance of commercial, industrial and technical progress. The Jubiläumswarte was also built of wood for the same reason but it was destroyed by a storm shortly after opening. One year later, a new "observation tower" was erected instead, this time of steel. During the Second World War, the tower began to decay and was completely demolished in 1953.

The construction of the new tower (the current Jubiläumswarte) was begun in 1955 by Karl Höger and opened in the next year and extensively renovated in 1983.Although it is completely different from the original construction, the present tower is still known as the Jubiläumswarte (jubilee tower).Next to the tower it is a small facility dedicated to the education of Vienna's schoolchildren in the fundamentals of forest biology.
